چکیده

This paper presents a new method for designing totally self-checking (TSC) Berger code checkers for any number k of information bits, even for k"2r~1, taking into account realistic faults as stuck-at, transistor stuck-open, transistor stuck-on and resistive bridging faults. Doubleas well as single-output TSC checkers are given. The proposed single-output TSC Berger code checkers are the "rst in the open literature. The checkers designed following the proposed method are signi"cantly more e$cient, with respect to the required area and speed, than the corresponding already known from the open literature checkers. Novel Single and Double Output TSC Berger Code Checkers

This paper presents a novel method for designing type-I and type-II single and double output TSC Berger code checkers taking into account a realistic fault model including stuck-at, transistor stuck-open, transistor stuckon, resistive bridging faults and breaks. A benefit of the proposed type-I single and double output checkers is that all faults are testable by a very small set of code words t...

Design Automation of Fpga Based Reliable Checkers

This work presents a CAD tool incorporating several approaches to the design of reliable checkers for totally self checking control units. Some of the approaches are original. To achieve the required properties, unidirectional error detecting codes are applied to the outputs of the control units. Traditionally, minimum check bits in the code serves as the criterion for its selection. The new pr...

TSC Berger-Code Checker Design for 2r-1-Bit Information

Berger code (BC) is an optimal separable code which can detect all single stuck-at and unidirectional faults. The traditional BC checker is not totally self-checking (TSC) when k = 2r-1, where k is the number of information bits in a code word, and r is the number of check bits. The case in which k = 2r-1, however, is important and practical since information words in most digital systems are i...

Design of VHDL-based totally self-checking finite-state machine and data-path descriptions

This paper presents a complete methodology to design a Totally Self-Checking sequential architecture based on the generic architecture of FSMD (finite state machine and data path), such as the one deriving from VHDL specifications. The control part of the system is designed to be Self-Checking by adopting a state assignment providing a constant Hamming distance between each 〈present state, next...

Berger Code Totally Self-Checking Checker Design for Embedded Adder Cores

Totally self-checking (TSC) adder design based on the Berger code is proposed for embedded adder cores. A self-checking circuit can execute on-line testing in normal system operation. TSC can immediately detect the error of an electronic system or a computer to avoid the data damaged or the malfunction of a function circuit. Hence, TSC can enhance the reliability of an electronic system, i.e., ...
